The moon nestles behind a cottage
Preparing for another day of rest
An outboard motor putters along
Breaking the silence of an eerily calm lake
A fisherman stops a quarter mile from shore
And begins checking his nets for the day’s catch
As the full moon recedes the sun’s light struggles through the clouds
To welcome a new day
Birds begin to yawn and clear their voices
First one and then a whole cacophony
The light makes a bold statement
With a rainbow of pinks splashed on a bank of cloudsUH The bank of clouds turns a more serious dark pink
And then a message from God bursts through
The sun peaks through the horizon
And lites the water ablaze straight to my heartIts the beginning of a new year for me
Others are joining me this afternoon to help claim it
I’ve been asking the question
What am I willing to commit to?Its the wrong question
The question is
God what do you want from me?
I am here, I will listen, I am your servant
